EmpowerHer Final Meeting in Pau: Looking back – and looking ahead

News

In September 2026, the EmpowerHer partnership came together in Pau, France, for the project’s final meeting. After two years of working together across Europe, the meeting was an opportunity to reflect on what we have achieved – and, importantly, to look at what comes next.

Positive feedback – and a life beyond the project

Although the project will officially run until the end of October, the first signs of its longer-term impact are already visible. Across all partner countries, the response to the EmpowerHer results has been very positive. Migrant women, employers and organisations supporting both have shown strong interest in the approaches and materials developed during the project.

Even more encouragingly, EmpowerHer is already becoming part of ongoing practice. Project partners and regional organisations are exploring how approaches and results can be integrated into their existing work and used beyond the official project lifetime. This means that the ideas, tools and experiences developed through EmpowerHer have the potential to continue supporting migrant women and the organisations working with them.

Empower the future

Looking to the future was also the focus of our “Empower the Future” session. Together, the partners explored four possible directions for building on the project:

  • Go Bigger – reach more people.
  • Go Further – develop what we have started.
  • Go Somewhere New – explore new contexts and opportunities.
  • Go Wild – let the really big ideas run free.

No final answers yet – and that’s exactly the point. The project has created a strong foundation, a great network and plenty of ideas for what might come next.

A partnership that makes the difference

The meeting was also a celebration of the partnership itself. Warm hospitality, a wonderful atmosphere, constructive collaboration and a strong team spirit have been an important part of the EmpowerHer journey from the beginning.
EmpowerHer may be approaching its finish line – but we are definitely not ready to stop there.
